The commitment of making an appointment.

Where the hell is that dead horse? Time to beat that bloated disgustingly smelly corpse a little more I suppose.

Many of my clients both old and new have "regular" jobs where at the end of a week or two they go in to a regular paycheck. And if the company you work for doesn't meet their quota of sales or what have you, their pay check goes untouched. They can still look forward to getting the same paycheck every week.  If you are one of these individuals, imagine getting your paycheck and finding hundreds of dollars missing because the company you work for didn't do well that week. Some others like me work on a sort of commission basis, we only make money when we make the company money. So I live a very different lifestyle than most people. I depend on my clients.

When you come in and make an appointment and leave the mandatory $50 deposit you've made a commitment to show up that day ready for your tattoo. By not showing up and failing to even show me the courtesy of a phone call you not only forfeit that deposit but the time and energy spent finding the right reference picture or the countless hours spent drawing or redrawing a picture not to mention paper, ink from my personal printer etc all go unaccounted for and I am left scrambling to fill that position. I depend on my clients because just like you I too have bills to pay. I have to buy clothes for my kids, pay my rent, and put gas into my car just like you. Many people hear us tell you that we charge $150 an hour and think about how much money we must be raking in as if we tattoo from the time we get to work until the time we leave. Untrue. Hours are spent on artwork, refining drawings, researching and marketing. Or worse, trying to fill spots left by no shows or last minute re schedule situations. That $50 is a small compensation for a three hour time slot we may have booked you for.

And far worse are the clients who we've grown to trust and have waived the normal deposit and then don't show up. As if us having a stronger bond than that of a first time client makes me loosing money that day easier to deal with. Its not, I find it much more frustrating and take it way more personal because they know how I feel and what its like for me. I do not live close to either studio I work for. I drive 45 minutes to an hour each day one way. Yes, this has been my choice, but I decided to continue to work in south jersey where I could continue to provide quality tattoos to my clients, their friends and their families. I could make things easy on myself and get a job closer to home but I value my clients. And even though I drive those distances I can count on one hand in the last 4 years how many times I've missed or had to reschedule a client due to me running late or being unable to show up. Unfortunately I can not count the number of times I've been stood up or had to reschedule someone last minute.

Let me also mention the question asker. The person whom you have an online question and answer session where in they drill you on how much something will cost and you then go through the normal responses. Then they want to know where you work as if the studio names and locations are not all over my Facebook, Instagram, Website, Tumblr, and Twitter pages. They also then want to know your hours, when you have openings, how soon you can get them in, how much the deposit is, etc. And then you NEVER hear or see them again. Hours and hours of time wasted with nothing to show for it except some hope that you might have a cool appointment soon.

So I guess all that I'm asking for is a little consideration when it comes to not only making your appointment but keeping it as well. I appreciate all of you and would love to continue to provide you with the best tattoos that I can. And I'll continue to make the sacrifices of driving, working late and getting up early to get your drawings done, but show me and my family the same respect please.

Nothing endures but change.

Yep things change, people change, its how we grow as humans. So as sad as it is I bid farewell to my home of almost four years and to the people who were more like a family then co-workers. I have no animosity towards Dynasty Tattoo and hope they continue to provide the excellent work we all strived to produce.

There is always a moment of awkwardness as both parties try to settle in to the new changes and I'd like to make the transition as easy as possible for my loyal clients. That being said as of July first I will be splitting my time between two studios. The majority of my time will be spent at Broadway Tattoo Lounge in South Amboy NJ. And because I didn't want to leave my clients here in south Jersey hanging I will still be available one to two days a week at Moerder Tattoo in Hammonton NJ, a mere half hour (?) from Newfield. So if you have work that needs finished by me or you are looking to start something new please contact me so that we can get you squared away with an appointment. My contact info has not changed, you can email me at scottdoestattoos@gmail.com or contact me through facebook if its easier. If you currently have a pending appointment I will be contacting you shortly to try and reschedule you. I will honor any security deposits that were given to Dynasty. However, if you no longer wish me to do your tattoo and would like to have someone else at Dynasty finish your tattoo then please by all means do so.

Please bare with me as with any changes there will be some bumps in the road but I am working to make things as simple as possible for all involved. Thanks to all of you for your continued support and I hope to be seeing some of you real soon!

Some people...

Recently I've been pondering what my next blog should be, or more accurately what I should bitch about next. And this problem has risen to the top of the most recent complaints I have. So let me fill you in, I have a client, whose identity will be hidden, that has come in and gotten work done by me and liked the work they have come back for more. This client never wants to make an appointment only wants me to keep them updated if I have any cancellations they can fill and when I do they are never able to fill them. Recently they made an appointment to get a matching tattoo that I did on their other wrist. On the day of the appointment they changed their mind completely and I had to free hand a design right on their wrist. The client being a return customer paid using a promotional 30% off coupon which is no big deal and if you haven't signed up for the monthly Dynasty News Letter you totally should as it can save you mad cash. With the discount the total was about $54, the client only had a hundred dollar bill and $53 dollars if my memory serves correct. I gave them 5 $20 bills for the hundred but didn't have change as they were my first client. Seeing that I was having trouble finding the correct change they offered up the $53 if I was willing to eat the dollar shortage. And that is what I did. Its much easier to lose $1 then to scramble around for change. They thanked me and left. Now I'm not all about tipping your tattoo artist but, it's always nice and given the fact that they not only got a discount but were given 5 $20's and I let them slide on a dollar I would not have been upset to get a tip. But hey that's how it goes sometimes, and I've always said that a good recommendation is better then a tip any day.

Then I received this message on Facebook.

Hey after looking at this tat I hate to complain but can you fix the "shadow" it look like it belongs can you trace it to make it look like the brown part of bracelet? I'm so sorry
  • 12:19pm
    Scott Terry

Sure let it heal and ill fix it

  • 12:20pm
    Client

Ty will it cost me anything?
  • 12:34pm
    Scott Terry

    Nope
    Tues march 12 2pm

    Client

    Ok
Thanks again, just know I love it except for that part

Even though this client shorted me a dollar and the part of the tattoo they wanted "fixed" wasn't anything wrong with the tattoo but something they didn't like the look of it is always my first reaction to make the client happy and why charge them? I'd rather the client be happy. So I scheduled them and got them in "fixed" the area they didn't like and darkened up a few things. And as I promised I didn't charge them a dime. Again, no tip was offered and neither was the dollar they shorted me on the initial tattoo.I'd like to take this time to mention also that while I was tattooing them they were talking to someone else in the room and bad mouthing other local studios they had gotten work from calling the artists "assholes".

Wow it really shouldn't look like that I would have to say that maybe my aftercare wasn't followed. I'd be happy to touch it up but since I've done so once already I'll have to charge you the shop minimum, $60. Stop in whenever and drop off your $50 deposit and fyi I'm booked up about two weeks so if you want to get in I'd do it rather soon.

Seriously I did everything I was suppose to do and I have to pay??? That's not really very fair. I paid in full for this tat and not by any fault of my own the color didn't take, I'm sorry but I'm not willing to put out any more money its not fair

You didn't pay in full... you actually shorted me a dollar.
  • 1:21pm
    Scott Terry

And technically feet and hands aren't covered under our free touch ups but I've done it once already. So its not fair for me to first not get paid in full then do not one but two touch ups for free using my supplies that I'm not being reimbursed for.

Oh I'm sorry I didn't get that memo I thought people stood behind their work... Thanks anyway I guess I'll just have to live with it!
    Thanks !

The skin on the hands and feet differ from other parts of the body and much like fingers and lips studios don't offer the same gaurantee we offer on say an arm. I've never said we don't stand behind our work or that i wouldnt help you. But I will have to charge you.

How is charging me $60 (shop minimum) helping me out? Unless with that $60.00 minimum you add something to it for me...

I've been thinking about your explanation and you really should tell people upon getting these types of tats about your "no guarantee" because if I had know I may have thought twice about getting It on my wrist, telling me once the problem occurred was kinda a moot point. Believe me, I'm only disputing this with you because I honestly do believe I'm right, I understand your point as well however, why should I have to pay for something that was in no way my fault? I mean really Scott...the bow you did on my other wrist came out beautifully and is my favorite tattoo which is what made me choose you to do another for me and what made me recommend you to a few of my friends. If you are going to stand firm about charging me then I guess this will just have to be a lesson learned on my behalf but if that is going to be the case when someone looks at this tat and comments on the flaw I will have to be honest with them and also, not that it would really matter to you I'm sure, find another tattoo shop to have any further tats done...

    Scott Terry

And good morning to you too. I have offered a solution, one that isn't satisfactory to you. I am sure that before I did your other tattoo I told you of the issues associated with tattooing the backs of hands as I am pretty on point with being brutally honest with people about size and location of tattoos that could effect their longevity. I don't believe that the price you paid for the original tattoo (which you did short me a dollar) was outrageous in fact is was most likely less then I'd charge someone else because you have been a return client of mine. I've already done one touch up for free and will gladly darken the tattoo for an additional studio minimum which I think is extremely fair given the circumstances. I'm sorry if you feel as though I'm not doing enough and if you choose to go to another studio then I'm sorry you feel this way but wish you the best of luck.

I will be sure to have that dollar to you as soon as possible!

So this is where the situation stands. This blog was not written in any attempt to exacerbate this situation. I merely wanted the facts known. Every attempt at hiding this individuals identity has been taken. The only changes that were made were the removal of any pictures and names. I've tried to be professional and resolve the situation. I never want someone to be unhappy with something I did on their body. That feeling sucks. However, I do feel the need to report the facts when someone feels as though I've done them wrong. This is a business and my equipment and my time are worth something. I don't think the studio minimum of $60 is too much to pay since this person has already had one free session. At this point I feel as though I've remained professional but you can not always make people happy unless you give them everything for free and even then who knows... So once again, a BIG thank you to all of my amazing clients who support me and my work. I love my job and its you that make me happy to come in and do what I do daily. Take care folks and thanks for reading.

Oh really?!

I’m about to go on a little rant, so you can either ignore me or ride this out. Every so often I run into people who claim they are tattoo artists. Now I am not the most social of people but I do know of many of the local talent let’s say. So when someone whose name I do not recognizes pops up I like to know where they work. Often I will look them up on the internet or facebook to see their examples of their work. When I can’t find a single picture I then ask them which studio they work out of. Most often I get no response. So I must assume they work out of their house. So no, you are not a tattoo artist, you are a scratcher. A low life, law breaking, know nothing who is probably fucking up people who lay down their hard earned money. Sure these “clients” are either stupid or ignorant and we should all feel sorry for them. I am a tattoo artist, I’ve been doing this a while. I know what makes a good tattoo good. I’ve studied other artists, I strive to get better every day. My work has won awards and I’ve seen it published in many magazines. This doesn’t make me the greatest, but I believe it makes me qualified to know if your tattoo sucks.

So why would you get a shitty tattoo? Is it because you can’t afford better? I’d say this is the worst excuse EVER! I understand not having the nicest clothes, or the fanciest TV. But a tattoo last F-O-R-E-V-E-R! Why would you want to walk around the REST of your life with a shitty tattoo? Do you like looking stupid? We all make mistakes but the trick is to learn from them. Soooo after you’ve gotten one bad tattoo why go back for more? This doesn’t just mean the idiot doing tattoos out of his place or yours, but also the shitty artist working out of the studio with the bad reputation. A little research goes a long ways. Google the name of a studio and see what the reviews have to say. Better yet look at the artist’s portfolio! If he doesn’t have one walk out. How can you trust him?

Okay, so we now know that home tattoo artists are breaking the law and can’t be trusted. Good. We know that if the artist works in a studio with a bad reputation or doesn’t have a portfolio that you should probably walk out. Which brings me to the next bitch I’d like to talk about. Why do people feel the need to let me know that their “artist” was too busy so they came to me instead? Better yet their “artist” “hooks them up” and my prices are too high. FUCK YOU very much. First off, your “artist” yeah I’ve heard of him, 20 years ago he was cutting edge. But in the past 20 years he hasn’t grown as an artist and is STILL doing tattoos like he did 20 years ago! And they suck. Have you picked up a tattoo magazine lately? Have you seen what can be accomplished? This is why he’s “hooking” you up, he has to lower his price to keep people coming back and getting the horribly out dated work he keeps churning out.

Again, my work has received recognition, and no I’m not bragging. All I’m saying is that I’m proud that my hard work has paid off. I try to continue to grow and not become comfortable, complacent, or stagnant. Oh, you like my work? But the price is too much? The drive is too far? If you only knew how much some of these artists charge per hour, you’d be amazed. No, they never discuss prices on those tattoo shows you like to watch. If they did you probably wouldn’t think about getting a tattoo from the sticker shock alone! $200 to $300 an hour is not unheard of, but my $125 is too steep? And I am in no way saying I am in the league with these top name artists. But I am not a scratcher or other shitty artist carving out a living doing flash pieces on tourists. I tattoo, I draw, I paint. I don’t have a side job. I’m devoted to doing tattoos and doing them to the best of my ability.

I love tattooing. It’s a challenge every day. Something new and exciting. Sometimes you amaze yourself, and sometimes you know you could have done better. It’s the best job I’ve ever had and it’s not for everyone. Its takes drive and determination. It becomes more than just a job it becomes a life style. Some people take it too far and get wrapped up in drugs and alcohol trying to live like a rockstar. But the good ones keep a level head, they push and strive never resting, never satisfied. But damn it man if some people don’t take the wind right outta your sails. I’m lucky to have a strong group of devote followers and to them I say thank you. Thank you for letting me do what I love. Thank you for showing me your continued loyalty. Thank you for bringing me your family and friends. For showing up on time and keeping your appointments. You make all the sacrifices worth it. And to the rest of you I just sit back and shake my head. And if you read ALL of this, wow, I'm amazed.

Don't always believe what you see...

Yeah we've heard it all before right? We've all seen the immaculate airbrushed centerfolds in men's magazines. Advertising agencies use tricks and techniques to make their products look more desirable in their commercials, billboards, print etc. And I've begun to see it more and more in the tattoo industry.

At first it was just a few people using photoshop to "enhance" their tattoos. It became so bad that some tattoo magazines had to tell prospective artists sending in material to not alter it. Some magazines don't care. And now with the popularity of such social media like tumblr and instagram I've seen this trend much more. A fairly decent artists work becomes a major work of art that people are falling all over themselves to praise. But lets raise the veil shall we??

Here was a picture I came across and was impressed with.

I was impressed with the work and the idea was pretty clever. But this is a picture taken by a photographer and edited. Now, lets take a look at the actual photos of the real tattoo....

Here we see that it lacks in the intensity in the above photo. I'm left feeling slightly let down. This first image appeared on a page promoting tattoo artists. And I'm sure the artist who did the tattoo got tons of new followers to his or hers profile. The second group of photos were also published but I almost thought it was a bad knock off of the first tattoo.

I've seen a few other people who have seen such blatant photo enhancing try to bring it to the public's attention and up until now I've never seen the proof like I have in this example. And I'm not saying that all amazing tattoos have been enhanced to look better. All I am saying is that you can't believe everything you see.

Welcoming 2013

As I stand (actually I'm sitting down) or the threshold of yet another year I can't help but to think about what has transpired over the last 12 months.

I moved back to Philly alone. I've now taken public transportation 4 sometimes 6 days a week back and forth (with the exception of some gracious friends who have driven me) for a whopping 5 hour round trip. I attended the Philadelphia, Tampa (which was not in Tampa), Wildwood and Atlantic City conventions.. I had a vacations to Boston, NYC and I also attended my first Fantasy Fest in Key West. I again returned to the PA Ren Faire and found an amazing restaurant which has quickly become one of my favorites.

In 2011 I wanted to get into magazines and started a successful campaign which got my work in over a dozen magazines. Not bad for never having sent a single thing into any magazine before. But 2012 was my year to do conventions. First was Philly and it was a big one! I've been to the Body Art Expo in Pomona California and that was probably bigger, but not by much. There were so many really talented artists in attendance this year and I was lucky enough to be fairly busy the whole weekend. Then came Tampa... This was a nice get a way type convention, too bad it wasn't IN Tampa. Needless to say it was kind of a bust. We even broke down Saturday night and headed up to Tampa for a day of fun in the sun before we had to head back. It wasn't a total loss as I met some really cool people. Then at the end of summer was the Wildwood Tattoo Beach Bash, a small venue but still a great time. Met some super awesome people and won my first ever trophy from a tattoo convention and discovered Menz's restaurant. The final convention was Atlantic City. A convention plagued with bad rumors of ever lacking attendance and poor planning. I can't say much good about it. Fellow up and coming artist Nicole Thompson (who took first place) and I collaborated on a set of color flash sheets that brought home our second trophy, so it wasn't all bad.

2012 saw me visiting Boston with renowned piercer Dave (idermal) Hurban. It was a short visit but we saw some amazing sites in such a Historic town and we enjoyed some amazing food. I can not wait to go back and do some more exploring. My son and I had a couple of trips to NYC. It is one of my favorite cities and I love taking my son to explore everything that the city has to offer. My last adventure was with fellow artist and shop owner Randi Polillo where we attended our first (and not last) Fantasy Fest in Key West Florida. We did get a little side track when we missed our connecting flight and had to stay overnight in Atlanta. But, we made the best of our time there and visited the Atlanta Aquarium where I saw my first Whale Shark. Five of them to be exact! Then it was off to the Keys for some adult fun. Wow. That's about all I can say, that, and that I'm looking forward to going back next year.

Come and gone are Hurricane Sandy, the Mayan "end of the world" calendar scare, a reelection of President Obama, legalization of marijuana, and a bunch of other news worthy "events".

So just what is 2013 gonna have in store? I for one am going to refocus on my art. I'll be getting a car and license soon thus my commute will be shorter giving me more time to get some things done. I hope to get back to submitting photos to magazine, redesigning my website and building my body painting portfolio for next years Fantasy Fest! I look forward to strengthening bonds with my some friends and letting go of frienemies. Its time to focus and have fun. Its time to get more tattoos and live a live worth living!

So be safe and I hope to see you when we welcome in 2014 which will be here before you know it...

Tis the season....

Well its that time of year again. The Holidays are here and everyone is running around looking for that perfect gift to give someone special. But maybe you have forgotten something. Remember when you stopped into the tattoo studio this past summer and talked to an artist and they told you that if you were gonna be out in the sun that getting a tattoo in the summer was a bad idea? Well summers over! The time for sitting on the beach roasting under the sun has past. NOW is the time to get in and get that awesome new bright and vibrant tattoo! If you get it now you wont have to avoid the sun surf and sand. It will be completely healed before you run out having to find that new swim suit thats gonna make everyone else notice you. And if you are thinking that you don't have the cash right now think again!

Most tattoo studios including Dynasty Tattoo are running some sort of specials. Either they have discounts on gift certificates or are collecting for Toys for Tots or perhaps they are even collecting like we do for one family who is in dire need. So a $20 investment can get you a $300 gift certificate! Tell me where you are going to get a better deal then that? What better way to give AND get? That surely will give you that warm tingly feeling and by warm tingly feeling I mean the feeling of tattoo needles across your skin.

So while you are out and about doing your part to boost the economy why not swing by Newfield and stop into Dynasty Tattoo and drop off a $20 gift (must bring a receipt) and maybe win a sweet gift for yourself? See Ya There!

Atlantic City Convention and November!

Hell yes the Atlantic City Convention had its ups and downs but I consider it a success. This was the second convention that Nicole Thompson and I had worked together since she graduated from apprentice to artist, and she made the most out of it by winning her first trophy for her colored flash sheet. Her and I also collaborated on a series of flash sheets that won us another trophy as well. That is two trophies in two back to back conventions! Two words, hell yes! And I don't know if you've heard but Dynasty recently was awarded the 2nd best overall tattoo studio in Philadelphia. Yes, you read that right, Philadelphia. No we didn't move, we are STILL located in Newfield. WAY down in south Jersey, but our work is so awesome that we out ranked most every single Philly based studio except one. So with three new trophies and a 2nd place ranking in a city we don't even work in I only have one question for you. Why haven't you booked your appointment yet?

I can see you are working on some lame excuse like like the lack of $. Well, with all of the specials we offer it's hard for me to take such excuses seriously. Yes, I know we don't charge $20 and a six pack, but if you know anything about tattoos in the first place then you know that those type of tattoos suck. So if you want quality work you have to pay a little more. So now it comes down to priorities, and you gotta decide if you want to spend hundreds on the new iphone, clothes, car parts etc which break, wear out, go out of fashion or get destroyed when you wreck you car or if you want to make an investment in one of the only things you actually take to the grave; your own flesh! Hmmm, hard choice right? Not really.

So to give all of you who live at home, (not paying child support, or a mortgage, still going to school, living with mom and dad yet still seem to have no money but go to AC and get a room, gamble and drink utnil you make bad decisions) a little kick in the ass I am offering these specials next month. From November 12th-16th 25% off new cover ups. Here is your chance to get that hideous piece of shit covered up. Why rock some shitty home made tattoo when a real artist is willing to cover it up at 25% off his normal hourly rate? During the week of November the 19th-23rd I will offer a discount on all tattoos I've started but have yet to finish. $100 dollars and hour. Thats $25 dollars off the normal hourly rate! So get that piece finished so you aren't looking at just an outline anymore!! And lastly November the 26th-30th I will be offering a discount on all sketch book designs (I'll make an album on my facebook fan page so you all know where to look). This discount will vary depending on the design and size etc but trust me I will make it worth it I promise. So there you are three weeks of discounts good only on people who actually book an appointment! Get in on it now because these slots could be gone fast!

Updates, been a while....

Man either I've been busy or just a lazy asshole lol. But got some updates I'd figure I'd share.

Okay so the update on Nick Accordino aka New Jersey's Blood Borne Pathogen Certified home tattooist (in other words, I suck so bad I hack at my friends and anyone stupid enough to allow me to "tattoo" them). He has hidden all of his so called artwork as well as his pics of himself tatting away. But if ya want to see them, friend him on facebook by clicking on his name lol. Who knows he may have stopped, I highly doubt it but one can dream. And he's not the only one doing shitty home tattoos, here is an example from Vineland.

This was what this young lady approached me with, a really curvy tree that...
shoots straight through her neck to cover a small roman numeral date on her other shoulder. SMH
After cleaning up the outline and adding more texture I did a bunch of shading.
Instead of having the tree shoot into her neck I weaved it back and forth one last time.

This piece is far from being done it needs some more shading and we are going to turn the swoops underneath to water and maybe blend it into a koi (which also need a ton of help) located on her lower back. This is the difference between a house scratcher and a real artist.

So I'm sure if you live in Jersey then you know that we got hammered with these freak storms the last couple of weeks and they may have affected your lives. I feel for you if any of your property was damaged or worse. At Dynasty Tattoo we were lucky enough to have only been without power for one work day and our only casualties were a few of the aquarium inhabitants. I know if you lost work time or had to go buy a generator, do some repair work, lost a vehicle etc, that many of you have incurred mass expenses and can not come to get tattooed, I completely understand. But, for those who survived and are okay, I do have a bunch of openings for anyone wanting to get some kick ass new ink.

Piece recently done on fellow artist Nicole Thompson.

In other news... I recently acquired a fun new toy. I got myself a lowrider bike!

I'm planning on making a few upgrades and then having a photo shoot which I like to include one of my female clients. So if any of you young ladies would be interested in doing a shoot; most likely in a bikini along with me and my bike please hit me up at scottdoestattoos@gmail.com.

And lastly, but far from least, this is the last month to register (via email to freetattoogiveaway@gmail.com) for the free sleeve or back piece being given away on my website here. Make sure to get those emails in or get left out!! Thanks for stopping by :)

Scratcher Alert! Nick Accordino/Joseph Accordino

OH MY GOD! So while trolling facebook I've come across super amazing home tattoo artist Nick Accordino aka Joseph Accordino. He is a 21 year old scratcher who according to him is "BBP Cert- 100% Legal to Tattoo in NJ". Awesome right? Yeah not so much.

Here is his Bloodborne Pathogen Certificate, this means he successfully passed a test and was given this certificate. So he knows what he's doing right??? Well, he SHOULD but that doesn't mean he practices what he supposedly learned. Example 1.

Here is our boy now, Whats that a towel, a pillow perhaps? Something that is easily contaminated by blood and ink. Hmmmm bloodborne pathogen trained right??? Example number 2.

Here he is with obviously dirty gloves cross contaminating whatever he he holding, Same disgusting set up. Is this a bedroom, living room? Carpet? Hmmm another breeding ground for all the micro spray of blood and ink to get trapped and harbor in. Bloodborne pathogen certified right?? I guess its like a drivers license, just because you get one by no means makes you a responsible driver.

If you look closely the tube (the object that the tattoo needle goes up and down in) is metal. These are reusable, and without a properly working ultrasonic cleaner and autoclave he is not sanitizing them properly. And even if he does have an autoclave I'll be willing to bet that it hasn't been tested to verify that it indeed works and has been documented by the Board of Health. But he's bloodborne pathogen certified!

Now lets look at his work shall we? Here is a proud example...

Kitchen magician at work, beer cans, whiskey bottles and is that a wadded up table cloth or someones shirt? Either way more permeable surfaces to contaminate! Oh boy I can smell the HepC!

Here is the proud owner. The pic just screams, "I just saved $20!" doesn't it? So lets take a closer look at this arrow head.

Oh yeah! There is that smooth shading he learned from watching Ink Masters! Smooth clean outlines, shading so smooth and transitional that the arrow head seems so real its as if it could fall right off his arm! Yeah not really. This is a giant turd. An easy $200 cover up, but home boy saved $20, sure he might have a nice case of HIV or hepatitis, syphilis, tetanus, tuberculosis or some other infectious disease. But he got himself a sweet tat from his boy for dirt cheap!

But because we've seen Mr. Accordino isn't practicing safe exercises even though hes "certified" he could easily be distributing diseases with every tattoo done. This is why you don't get tattooed in someones house. This is why you go to trained professionals. This is why I am forwarding his info to the Health Department and maybe he will get fined, or jail time and NEVER be allowed to tattoo legally in the state of NJ. This one individual could be giving people not only shitty tattoos but diseases that supposedly he was trained to prevent yet takes no precautions to do so.

This makes me sick. And I hope the people reading this will share this info with their friends and help spread the word about this and any other scratcher they know of. Thanks!

Saying goodbye to the FREE Tattoos...

If you are a client of mine or at the very least a fan or even worse, just some lurker lol you've known that I had been giving away a free tattoo each and every month for about a year now. Well, this has come to an end. I started this with the idea of drawing something I really wanted to do and in hopes of meeting new people and potential clients. And it worked so well that I've gotten so busy that I am finding it hard to keep up every month with a new and original design. So I've decided to end the whole free thing and move on to bigger and better things.

Don't be too dismayed all of you people looking for a great deal on a custom tattoo. Because now I am offering to do huge pieces, I'm talking about FULL sleeves, back pieces, chest pieces etc. to a lucky few. Are they free?? NO. But, they are going to be offered up at HALF off my normal hourly rate. 1/2 of $125 is $62 an hour, not bad for what you'd get in return. There are some stipulations, one being that the work take place from 12-2pm Tuesday through Thursday. I know a 2 hour session isn't much but it will give me a chance to work at a pace that will insure top quality without compromising too much pain endurance on your part. And secondly the pieces are topics or subjects of my choosing. :) Thus far the topics on the board are a super bright yet evil Alice in Wonderland sleeve, a Tim Burtons Nightmare before Christmas inspired piece, my vision is an uber colorful eye popping design.Another idea I'd like to do is a style I’m hardly ever asked to do, bio-mechanical, and I’d like to do a large piece, something with chrome and human tissue…
much like this Roman Abrego piece...

I’m also interested in doing a large scale full traditional Asian inspired back piece, like a large Koi or Phoenix. Bold out lines and brightly colored.

If any of these designs sound like something you'd be interested in please feel free to contact me at ScottDoesTattoos@gmail.com the sooner the better.

In other news you might have heard that some of my artwork will appear in the newest issue of Tabu Tattoo's March Issue, this is the first time I've been in this particular magazine so I'm pretty excited. I've also met with an amazing photographer Koji Sese who will be doing some shoots for me in the near future. I really like his work and look forward to working with him.

On the traveling front I'd like to announce some  more conventions and guest spots I will be attending, next will be the Tampa Tattoo Fest in late March/ early April, as well as the Wildwood and Atlantic City conventions later this fall. As for guest spots I am in the planning stages of visiting Joseph Bergeron and company at his studio Revolution Ink Tattoo down in Leesvillle, Louisiana. Lots of good stuff planned for this year to be excited about!

Philly Tattoo Convention, DONE!

So the Philly convention was amazing, the arctic weather rolled in but didn't stop the crowds from filling the new venue. So on the topic of the venue I have some opinions I'd like to share (lol, of course I do right?). First, the security and hassle of coming and going. Going was never really an issue, if you wanted to leave, all you had to do was follow the exits. But getting in was a different story! On the first day we were allowed in via a long wait to check in, get our passes, booth location etc. No problems, however once in we were told if we exited the building we had to wait in the long lines of patrons still coming in! How about an artist re-entry area, we have passes that the regular attendees don't have...Just a thought. Then on the two subsequent days we the artists again had to wait in long lines to be scanned for weapons. LOL Yeah I dropped $600 on a booth so I could smuggle a knife into the show so later I can shank someone! Are they joking? Besides my knife was in my kit that didn't get checked the first day... Duh! And while on the subject how about retiring the old and feeble guards that take 10 minutes to wand you and check your backpack.

Scrat from Ice Age done Saturday on Josh Ducat at Philly Convention.

Now how about the Health Department making their rounds on the 2nd day?! Um hey guys if there is a problem isn't the second day a day late? Lol.And since I touched on the aging staff, can you find some "bartenders" who can poor drinks quickly? Because those lines for adult beverages were excruciatingly slow. Also two themalfaxes are not enough especially when they weren't working well and the lines at the copier/copiers was horrible since it took WAY to long to get stencils made and put me further behind with my appointments.

Amber's Fight Club bar of soap done Sunday at the convention.

Otherwise I thought the new venue was awesome. It seemed to have more space, not as crowded as before. I was blown away by just how many artists attended this year and the quality of the work they were producing. Everyone seemed to have a good time and I was lucky to stay as busy as I was. I was overjoyed to see so many of my own clients as well as other Dynasty clients supporting us, you guys rock! I apologize for not being able to spend as much time talking to everyone, besides the fact that no one could hear me anyway. I think I was starting to lose my voice by Sunday lol.

Well that is about it for the convention. In other news I still am slacking on getting a new design posted for my free tattoo monthly give away so keep checking back. AND more of my work is being published in Tabu Tattoo issue #47 on sale 3/13/2012 so make sure you find and buy a copy. I haven't been in this magazine before so kind of excited lol.
Finished make-up sleeve.
