Beaten, Never Broken

Living in Philly has its ups and downs. On the plus side I have endless choices of places to eat which are open at all hours of the day and night. We’ve got museums, shopping, bars, parks, sports, the list goes on. But with the good there comes the bad. This city is also full of inconsiderate people, litter, traffic, and crime. I’ve been on the receiving end of the last a few times. I’ve had a car and a motorcycle stolen and most recently I was liberated of 90% of my tattoo equipment. Some could say it was my fault for having left it in my car, but it takes a special kind of scumbag to steal from someone’s car. Now I could get mired down in self depreciating feelings and throw myself a pity party but I take solace in knowing that whoever took my things will never be able to use them to create the tattoos that I did or will do for that matter. I’ve contacted the majority of the tattoo studios in the area and have friends keeping a watchful eye on both craigslist and ebay in case the douche bags try selling my equipment.  

I’m also feel lucky in that I’m surrounded by positivity. I have two great studios where I work with truly good caring and generous people. I’m also proud to have some of the greatest clients who trust me and keep me busy creating one of a kind artwork. So I thank not only my coworkers at Moerder Tattoo and Broadway Tattoo Lounge but also each and every one of you.

I will rebuild. I lost material possessions, not my ability to do my job.  My equipment will be replaced and I will continue to do what I love doing. I’ve got two upcoming conventions; Wildwood is in a couple of weeks and then Inked Out NJ is in September. I’ve still got some limited openings for each for anyone interested. Nothing endures but change.

Yep things change, people change, its how we grow as humans. So as sad as it is I bid farewell to my home of almost four years and to the people who were more like a family then co-workers. I have no animosity towards Dynasty Tattoo and hope they continue to provide the excellent work we all strived to produce. 

There is always a moment of awkwardness as both parties try to settle in to the new changes and I'd like to make the transition as easy as possible for my loyal clients. That being said as of July first I will be splitting my time between two studios. The majority of my time will be spent at Broadway Tattoo Lounge in South Amboy NJ. And because I didn't want to leave my clients here in south Jersey hanging I will still be available one to two days a week at Moerder Tattoo in Hammonton NJ, a mere half hour (?) from Newfield. So if you have work that needs finished by me or you are looking to start something new please contact me so that we can get you squared away with an appointment. If you currently have a pending appointment I will be contacting you shortly to try and reschedule you. I will honor any security deposits that were given to Dynasty. However, if you no longer wish me to do your tattoo and would like to have someone else at Dynasty finish your tattoo then please by all means do so. 

Please bare with me as with any changes there will be some bumps in the road but I am working to make things as simple as possible for all involved. Thanks to all of you for your continued support and I hope to be seeing some of you real soon!

Help Restore the Jersey Shore!

No I'm not trying to bring back the dumb mind numbing show that made morons famous for no reason. I'm talking about helping out a good cause for those who truly are in need of help due to the devastating destruction hurricane Sandy caused. Since Dynasty Tattoo is located in South Jersey many of our clients have been affected by this unfortunate turn of events and since we weathered the storm and emerged unscathed we wanted to organize something to raise money to donate to the southern New Jersey chapter of the Red Cross. So for one day only, November the 12th from 2pm until the last person is tattooed or pierced Dynasty Tattoo will be offering 50% OFF ALL piercings & $50 NJ tattoos where 50% of the proceeds will be donated. Also taking place will be a sale of original artwork from the staff and local artists of which 75% of the profits will be donated. And that's not all! We will also be hosting a chinese auction where you could win a gift basket generously donated by one of many amazing local businesses. Or just show your support by purchasing a "Restore the Shore" bracelet. There truly is something for everyone so please pass this along, tell everyone you know and lets raise some money for those in need because every little bit helps.

Also this November I will be offering exclusive deals to help those in need of my services save some cash for the holidays yet still scratch their itch for some new ink. So starting November the12th-16th you can take 25% off any new cover ups. Here is your chance to get that hideous piece of shit covered up. Why rock some shitty home made tattoo when a real artist is willing to cover it up at 25% off his normal hourly rate? During the week of November the 19th-23rd I will offer a discount on all tattoos I've started but have yet to finish. $100 dollars and hour. Thats $25 dollars off the normal hourly rate! So get that piece finished so you aren't looking at just an outline anymore!! And lastly November the 26th-30th I will be offering a discount on all sketch book designs (I'll make an album on my facebook fan page so you all know where to look). This discount will vary depending on the design and size etc but trust me I will make it worth it I promise. Newtons Third Law....

I've been trying to keep a positive mood as of late because who wants to walk around miserable all the time? But its funny just how irritated I get when I see somebody hacking away in their house with a "gun" "tattin" up their friends for their hard earned money. Usually these tattoos suck ass and I guess people are just uneducated in knowing what a decent tattoo looks like or they just don't care. I just don't understand, people will shell out all kinds of cash for some stupid pair of sneakers they will wear for one summer, get dirty and throw out but the shitty looking tattoo on their arm for life is cool. Hahaha what is it? Poorly done "jail house "tats" don't make you look cool or give you street cred, they make you look cheep and stupid hahaha.

I see bad tattoos every day. All one has to do is leave their house and you'll be confronted by plenty of people rocking some ridiculous blown out, horribly shaded neck tattoo or hand tattoo. Not even subtlety hidden but out there in the open proclaiming their lack of intelligence for the world to see. But what REALLY gets me is when people who know and witness the kind of work me and my co-workers produce they will blatantly post stupid status's like this...

 Hahaha very often, I guess there are some people out there who are actually proud of their bad tattoos. I have no idea why. And I apologize if this seems like a negative post but like Sir Issac Newton said, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. So keep posting these pics and I'll keep sharing them as well as all of your information with the local Health Department and authorities along with as many people who read my blog.
